After completing high school and undergrad in Paola, Kansas, and Kansas State University, respectively, Dr. Jason Lake achieved his Doctor of Optometry with honors at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. In 1998, he founded Eyecare Specialties in Central Missouri to pursue his dream of working in both science and business; since then, Eyecare Specialties has developed into a positive practice with a close-knit “work family” and enthusiastic patient base.
Working with patients, Dr. Jason Lake is known for his ability to truly listen to his patients and solve even the most complicated cases of glaucoma, macular degeneration, contact lens issues, and anything else that may be impacting his patients’ vision. He handles practice management consulting, lectures, and business appraisals for optometrists across North America, and participates in optometry on a state and national level by serving on the Board of Trustees of the Missouri Optometric Association. Dr. Jason Lake is also one of the most trusted providers of LASIK consultations and co-management in the region.

Get to Know Dr. Jason Lake
Originally a Kansas boy born-and-raised, Dr. Jason Lake has become a lover of everywhere he’s lived during his education and career. Currently, he’s an active member of his community: in addition to participating in the Rotary Club, Optimist International, and Chamber of Commerce, he’s served as multiple-term president of the Warrensburg Park and Recreation board, as well as other advisory boards. He even acts as the team optometrist for the University of Central Missouri Mules and Jennies.
Dr. Jason Lake became a leader in eye care alongside his fellow eye doctor and greatest inspiration: his wife, Dr. Susan Lake. When not knee-deep in optometry or community events, Dr. Jason Lake spends time with his wife and three daughters water skiing and boating on Table Rock Lake, running marathons, and watching college football. He has plans to tackle fly fishing and competitive water skiing in the future.
